Kocharian: Unsettled Conflicts Hamper Regional DevelopmentFebruary 9, 2006 - 13:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - In his speech at Swedish Foreign Policy Institute February 8 Armenian President Robert Kocharian urged the EU «to encourage harmonization of reforms in South Caucasus states and give them a common direction.» In Kocharian's words, this is his view of the practice of the European Neighborhood Policy in the South Caucasus. The President reminded that «unsettled conflicts and different degrees of commitment to reforms hamper regional development.» He emphasized that Armenia believes as before that «the shortest way to conflict settlement lies through cooperation and extension of contacts and we are ready to practical steps in this respect,» reported Mediamax.![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
