Mercedes-Benz exploring Google Glass integration possibilityAugust 17, 2013 - 11:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Mercedes-Benz is exploring the possibility of introducing Google Glass integration to its vehicles, Digital Spy said. The German automaker is testing a door-to-door navigation system that makes use of the headset by transferring additional destination information after the user has left their vehicle. "We definitely see wearable devices as another trend in the industry that is important to us," Mercedes research and development chief Johann Jungwirth told Wired. "We have been working with Glass for roughly six months and meeting with the Google Glass team regularly." The prototype version of the service uses a cloud server to bridge the gap between an iPhone and Google Glass as Mercedes's Digital DriveStyle App navigation app is not yet available for Android. "This is, perhaps, not how we will accomplish it when we launch it as a product," Jungwirth added. "As we are in talks with Google about making a direct connection to Glass work, but it is how our prototype works today." Google Glass will be released commercially in 2014.
