Oscar-nommed Michael Fassbender in “Frank” comedy trailer

PanARMENIAN.Net - Two-time Oscar nominee Michael Fassbender takes a hilarious leap from his dramatic resume in the first trailer for “Frank,” a comedy about an eccentric musician who takes his act on the road to perform at Texas music, film and media festival, South by Southwest, TheWrap reported.

Fassbender, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actor this year for his sadistic performance in “12 Years a Slave,” plays the title character, but audiences shouldn't expect to see much of him. As co-star Domhall Gleeson (“About Time”) explains in the preview (above), Frank wears a giant head over his own for some crazy reason.

Emphasis on “crazy,” because he refuses to take it off, and says his facial expressions out loud to let his friends know how he feels.

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Frank's female companion, and she confirms everything the trailer suggests when she says, “Frank's not okay.”

“Frank,” a fictional story loosely inspired by Frank Sidebottom — the persona of cult musician and comedy legend Chris Sievey — premiered at Sundance this year. It is being released in the U.K. this spring, while distributor Magnolia Pictures has yet to set a U.S. release date.
