Asus pressured to halt Windows-Android hybrid PC development: report

PanARMENIAN.Net - Asus is reportedly under pressure from Google and Microsoft to halt development on its Transformer Book Duet TD30 dual-OS PC, Digital Spy reveals.

The machine is designed to run both Windows and Android operating systems, but the platform holders are said to have expressed opposition to the venture.

Taiwanese company Asus is also believed to be postponing shipments of its Transformer AiO P1801 and P1802 dual-OS PCs, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Elsewhere, Huawei is understood to be developing a smartphone with both Android and Windows on board, with Google and Microsoft yet to quash its plans.

Chip-maker Intel is also said to be keen on dual-OS hardware as a potential means of sparking renewed interest in a flagging PC market.

Neither Microsoft nor Google has offered any official comment on the matter.
