“The Brokenhearted” fantasy bestseller to get film treatment

PanARMENIAN.Net - New Line has optioned the movie rights for Amelia Kahaney’s fantasy bestseller “The Brokenhearted” from Alloy Entertainment, Variety reported.

Alloy’s Les Morgenstein and Elysa Dutton are producing and Ellen Shanman is set to adapt.

The novel, published last year by Harper Teen, centers on a talented ballerina and heiress who goes to a dangerous party and falls to her death — only to awaken in an underground lab with a bionic heart ticking in her chest. A sequel of the book will be released later this year.

Shanman has authored the novels “Right Before Your Eyes” and “Everything Nice,” which is in development at Universal and being adapted for Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah Films.

New Line’s Andrea Johnston and Dave Neustadter will oversee production.
