  OSCE MG Co-chair urges Armenian, Azeri leaders to meet in Paris June 27, 2014 - 13:53 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The U.S. Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group expressed America’s readiness to take every effort to promote a peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict. In an interview with the Voice of America’s Azeri Service, ambassador James Warlick spoke of the recent visit of Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to South Caucasus, where he urged Armenian and Azeri president’s to accept French leader Francios Hollande’s invitation for a summit meeting in Paris. The ambassador further called to continue productive discussions on the issue that began last November in Paris. “The U.S. in committed to the Minsk Group process. We’re also prepared to help bilaterally in any way we can,” the ambassador concluded.    The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan The conflict between Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan broke out as result of the ethnic cleansing launched by the Azeri authorities in the final years of the Soviet Union. The Karabakh War was fought from 1991 (when the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was proclaimed) to 1994 (when a ceasefire was sealed by Armenia, NKR and Azerbaijan). Most of Nagorno Karabakh and a security zone consisting of 7 regions are now under control of NKR defense army. Armenia and Azerbaijan are holding peace talks mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group up till now.
