RA FM: Pressure upon Karabakh Conflict Sides Not Felt YetJuly 3, 2006 - 17:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Democratic processes in Armenia and Azerbaijan differ greatly and the international community is well aware of this, Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian stated at press conference in Yerevan. In his words, Mr Matthew Bryza, the U.S. Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group for the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, did not say that the rate of democratization has lowered in Armenia, he only said that Azerbaijan has fixed some progress in this direction. In the opinion of the Armenian Foreign Minister, no pressure on the sides is felt yet. "If the parties achieved an agreement during the talks and few questions remained unsettled pressure would be possible. But now it's hard to say that the positions of the conflict sides are close enough to make pressure possible," Oskanian said. At the same time he reiterated the immutability of Armenia's stand of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement. The majority of proposals are admissible for Armenia and we are hopeful that Azerbaijan will reconsider its position," the Armenian FM said. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult.
