The Japanese company showcased a prototype version of the wearable at a recent event in its homeland, Digital Spy reports citing Nikkei Technology. The unnamed device includes an OLED display with a 90-degree viewing angle, and an omnidirectional camera equipped with seven image sensors that can capture data from all angles. It is capable of shooting video at 75 frames per second and attaches to the user's head via a set of ear hooks. Unlike Samsung's Gear VR headset, Panasonic's virtual reality device does not require a synced smartphone to function. Panasonic is yet to confirm plans to bring the product to market, but has indicated that it intends to show off the technology at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
