M5.9 earthquake hits Azerbaijan: tremors felt in Armenia![]() September 4, 2015 - 14:10 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A M5.9 earthquake hit Azerbaijan’s north-western areas near Sheki district, Azerbaijani media reports. The earthquake was recorded Sept.4, at 09:49:36 (UTC/GMT +5 hours), 29 kilometers southeast of Sheki, according to a statement on the website of the Republican Seismological Survey Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. According to the Armenia's Ministry of Territorial Integration and Emergency Situations, tremors were felt in several Armenian cities, including Vanadzor (2-3 points), Stepanavan and Kapan (3 points), Ijevan and Noyemberyan (4 points), Yerevan (3-4 points). ![]() ![]() The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees. Friday night 8 trees were torched along the beautiful main entrance.
