Proposed by Valencia’s Ararat Armenian Association, the resolution was presented for discussion at the City Council session by Left Union spokesperson Juanjo Llorente. The four parties representing the City Council unanimously voted for the recognition of the crime perpetrated by Ottoman Turkey as Genocide and the condemnation of the crime. The City Council session was attended by the Armenian community representatives and Spanish social-political figures.
