Iran ready to mediate Karabakh conflict settlement: Foreign Ministry

PanARMENIAN.Net - Iran is ready to mediate the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Hossein Jaber Ansari, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, told a press conference in Tehran on Monday, April 25, APA reports.

“We’re ready to mediate if the parties to the conflict want us to,” Ansari said.

“We think that under current circumstances the conflict has to be resolved through negotiations within international organizations and the OSCE Minsk Group.”

He noted that the tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be eliminated.

“Since the escalation in Nagorno Karabakh, we contacted and held meetings with both sides, urging them to settle the conflict by diplomatic means,” Ansari added.
