Armenia to provide periodic payments to families of fallen soldiers

PanARMENIAN.Net - In addition to lump sum payments, families of fallen soldiers will receive periodic payments, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatrayan said Thursday, May 26.

On April 2, Azerbaijan unleashed a large-scale offensive against Nagorno Karabakh, in the course of which dozens of Armenian soldiers were killed alongside the hundreds of losses, registered on the Azerbaijani side.

“A number of individuals and organizations have also provided assistance, helping solve a number of problems,” Asatryan said.

“Besides, we have a number of legislative initiatives at state level, with the government set to approve a part of them in the near future.”

According to him, families of deceased soldiers receive some AMD 4 million insurance payments for funeral and other costs.

If a corresponding decision secures cabinet approval, Asatryan said, families of volunteers will also benefit from the project.
