France to block further talks between Turkey and EU

PanARMENIAN.Net - The scheduled negotiations over Turkey's accession to the European Union may fail on two of three articles. Besides Cyprus, Paris has also suddenly stated about his intention to block negotiations. France is going to block further talks on the issue of Turkey's accession to the EU, Financial Times Deutschland reports. Citing representatives of French diplomatic circles, the newspaper reports that President of the country Nicolas Sarkozy may try to veto negotiations over "Economic and Currency Union" article.



Paris explains his refusal with arguments that this very direction of talks applies only to those countries, the future full membership of which does not raise doubts from the very beginning. For, example the same thing happened with Eastern European countries, which joined the EU recently, Deutsche Welle reports. It is worth mentioning that France has always opposed Turkey's accession to the European Union.
