This first of all proves the U.S. interest in Azeri energy resources, according to him. "Azerbaijan is a bridgehead for the U.S. possible attack on Iran. And last but not least, the U.S. will exert every effort to prevent Baku from prolonging Russia's lease of the Gabala radar base after 2012," he noted adding that the U.S. military bases will be deployed in Azerbaijan sooner or later.
