Murderers of Armenian sentenced to 14-year imprisonment in Kaliningrad

PanARMENIAN.Net - A district court of Kaliningrad, Russia, has brought in a second verdict of guilty for Vladimir Podtoptanny and Denis Krupitsin, charged of killing Armenian-native Meruzhan Sargsyan and beating his brother, Meruzhan Sargsyan in September 2005. The accused were sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment under article 111.4 of the Russian Penal Code.



The first verdict, issued in 2006, supposed a more severe punishment (16 years in prison). However, it was appealed in the circuit court.



The current verdict is likely to be appealed as well, since both the prosecution and defense showed displeasure.
