Armenian community solidary in Genocide recognition issue

PanARMENIAN.Net - "A resolution on the Armenian Genocide recognition has been introduced in the Senate. By twist of fate, it has the same number as the House Resolution - 106 - and is backed by 33 Senators," Armenian Assembly Country Director for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, Arpi Vartanian told a news conference in Yerevan. However, it's hard to forecast a date for Senate hearings, she added.

"As to the House Resolution 106, Speaker Nancy Pelosi will fix a date for the vote. Possibly, it will happen before the Congress goes on leave, i.e. before the Thanksgiving Day (November 25). I think we will know the date soon," Ms Vartanian said.

At that she did not rule out that the Resolution will be defeated in the full House. "The measure is supported by 226 out of 435 Congressmen. Some are determined to oppose it; some still hesitate. The AAA and ANCA are cooperating for gaining more supporters of the Resolution," she said.
