From Memory to Memorialization international conference to be held in Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - From Memory to Memorialization international conference dedicated to nation's historical memory and conservation of cultural heritage will be held in Yerevan November 27-28. The event will be dated to the 40th anniversary of the Memorial to Armenian Genocide victims.



Arevik Avetisyan, a spokesperson for the Institute-Museum of Armenian Genocide, told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter that Director of the Institute-Museum Hayk Demoyan, Director of the National Archive Amatuni Virabyan, scholars Levon Abrahamyan, Suren Manukyan and others will address the conference.



The decision to build the Memorial was taken in 1965 on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Architects Artur Tarkhanyan and Sashur Kalashyan won the tender. The opening ceremony took place November 19, 1957.
