Europe interested in strengthening relations with Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Strengthening of relations with Armenia and support of democratic reforms in this republic is dictated by Europe's interests, Executive Director of European Foundation for Democracy, Roberta Bonazzi told a conference on democratic reforms in Yerevan.

"Armenia is a country which succeeded in developing dialogue with U.S. and Europe, on the one hand, and Iran and Russia, on the other hand," she said.

"The Foundation supports reforms targeted at formation of an open society. The purpose of this conference is to promote discussion and raise public awareness. Election is an important but not the only constituent of democracy. But we are confident that legitimacy of an election is conditioned by demonstration of civic duty," she said, Novosti Armenia reports.
