ARF Dashnaktsutyun not going to appeal presidential election results

PanARMENIAN.Net - ARF Dashnaktsutyun doesn't intend to appeal the outcomes of the presidential election and congratulates Serzh Sargsyan on victory, says a statement issued by the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body.

"We are concerned over the atmosphere of intolerance and hatred in the republic. Our candidate Vahan Hovhannisian endeavored to wage an ideological campaign. However, mass violations on the election day brought the efforts to naught," the statement says.

ARF Dashnaktsutyun proposed the ruling coalition to reject collaboration provided by an agreement signed in May 2007 and expressed readiness to renounce the portfolios stipulated by the agreement on cooperation with the Republican Party of Armenia and Prosperous Armenia party.

ARF Dashnaktsutyun condemned the efforts of forcible shift of power in the republic and called to look into all violations taken place during the election process.

It called to secure freedom of speech and expression, to change the election system, establish dialogue with the opposition and to form a government which will be capable to promote the country's democratic and economic development.
