EU urgently recommends RA government to close NPP

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union urgently recommends the Armenian government to close the Metsamor nuclear power plant and is ready to allocate 100 mln. euro for the purpose, deputy chair of European Commission directorate for foreign affairs, Mr Hugues Mingarelli said in Yerevan.

"Armenia should search for alternative energy sources. We understand that it's not an easy decision but the NPP is outdated and represents a danger for the country and the entire region. The EU can also help Armenia with diversification of energy sources," he said.
