CoE doesn't pursue double standards policy toward Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Council of Europe doesn't pursue the policy of double standards toward Armenia, said Mr Walter Schwimmer, Austrian CoE Secretary General from 1999 to 2004.

"The CoE tries to avoid such a policy. All members of the organization receive an equal share of criticism. Violence has no place in democracy," he said.

Mr Schwimmer disagreed with the opinion that the CoE did not properly react to the Armenian post-election developments. "I remember that a critical statement was issued… Unfortunately, no country is secured from various violations but commitments should be fulfilled to the maximum," he said, Day.az reports.
