Armenia mulls purchasing more Su-30 fighters from Russia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia may purchase more Su-30SM fighters from Russia, Defense Minister David Tonoyan told Wednesday, February 13’s briefing.

As reported earlier, Armenia has already ordered four Su-30SM fighters.

"Yes, we do not plan to be limited only by four units of this type of military equipment," Tonoyan said in response to a question about whether Armenia intends to purchase additional Su-30SM jets.

The Defense Ministry told PanARMENIAN.Net earlier that Armenia’s possible acquisition JAS-39 Gripen fighter aircraft manufactured by the Swedish aerospace company Saab is currently under discussion.

According to the Ministry, Armenia is also considering the purchase of fighter jets produced in other countries in order to create a multifunctional air force.
