CSTO against NATO expansion eastwardsJuly 22, 2008 - 16:16 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Collective Security Treaty Organization stands against NATO's expansion eastwards, since it gives birth to new military infrastructures around Russia and Belarus, the CSTO Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha told a news conference in Yerevan today. "It refers to military bases in Bulgaria and Romania, installation of missile defense systems in Baltic states and formation of some structures in Central Asia. We understand that all these operations will somehow tell on our member states and we can't have a different opinion on the issue," he said. Mechanical expansion of NATO will not lead to stability, according to Bordyuzha. "There are other means of security system formation which should be used instead of imposing NATO membership on the states like Georgia and Ukraine," he said. ![]() ![]() Azerbaijani authorities report that they have already resettled 3,000 people in the Nagorno-Karabakh town of Stepanakert.
