Pashinyan wants reliable international system of ceasefire monitoring

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has urged the creation of a reliable international system of monitoring ceasefire.

Meeting the country's top military officials on Saturday, July 18, Pashinyan said it is necessary to abandon the cycle of continuous statements about ceasefire violations.

"Negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship must continue, and Azerbaijan will finally have to adopt a constructive position," he said.

The situation on the border between the two countries escalated on July 12, with Azerbaijan launching three unsuccessful infiltration attempts in the next four days. The Azerbaijani military also used large caliber grenade launchers and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements in Armenia. Four servicemen of the Armenian army were killed, while Azerbaijan reported 12 deaths.
