Armenian couple marry in village shelled by Azerbaijan![]() July 20, 2020 - 11:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A couple were married at a church in an Armenian village, which came under fire by the Azerbaijani troops from across the border during the recent escalation, Armenian Minister of Education revealed in a Facebook post. The village of Movses was among around a dozen Armenian villages which were shelled by the Azerbaijani troops amid renewed unrest between July 12 and 16. The situation on the border between the two countries escalated on July 12, with Azerbaijan launching three unsuccessful infiltration attempts in the next four days. The Azerbaijani military also used large caliber grenade launchers and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements in Armenia. Four servicemen of the Armenian army were killed, while Azerbaijan reported 12 deaths. Armenian Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan said in a Facebook post on Monday, July 20 that the situation on border between Armenia and Azerbaijan was relatively calm overnight. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed. David Vardanyan is the son of former Karabakh leader Ruben Vardanyan who who is currently imprisoned in Azerbaijan.
