Levon Aronian beats World Champion Anand

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian gained a victory over World Champion Viswanathan Anand in the second tour of Linares 2009.



Aronian, who played with black pieces, caused Anand to surrender at the 53rd move of the set, repeating his last year's result with Anand at Linares 2008 in Morelia.



The second tour of Linares 2009 registered another resultant game, where the Russian grandmaster Aleksey Topalov defeated China's Wang Yue.



The other two games of the second tour ended in a draw.



The victory brought 1.5 points to Aronian and placed him on a level with leading Alexander Grishuk.



Today in the third tour of Linares 2009 International Chess Tournament, Levon Aronyan will be playing against Azeri grandmaster Teimour Radjabov.
