Erdogan claims Putin supports Baku's "security platform" ideaDecember 11, 2020 - 15:08 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported Azerbaijan's proposal to create a platform for ensuring regional security, which could include Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia and Armenia, TASS reports. "Mr. Putin has reacted to the idea positively. In a telephone conversation, he wanted to know about my opinion. I told him that after [President of Azerbaijan Ilham] Aliyev reacted positively to this, it is important that I, too, react positively. Even Georgia is now on the agenda," Erdogan said. "I would also like to attach significance to this platform [meant to maintain regional security] mentioned by my brother [Aliyev]. This platform can unite Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Georgia and, if it agrees to join, Armenia." Speaking to reporters on board his plane during his return from Azerbaijan, Erdogan said Putin's approach has played a "significant role" in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process.
