Armenia Deputy PM Mher Grigoryan to co-chair regional working group

PanARMENIAN.Net - Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan will co-chair the working group on the development of economic ties and infrastructure projects in Nagorno-Karabakh and the region, his office said Tuesday, January 12, Aysor.am reports.

The trilateral working group led by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan will tackle the issues of unblocking economic, trade and transport communications in Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as the matter of opening borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The agreement is reflected in the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin, signed on January 11.

The working group will hold its first meeting by January 30. By March 1, they are expected to unveil a timetable of activities "to restore or build new transport infrastructure necessary for initiating, implementing and providing for the safety of international traffic through the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, as well as ensuring the safety of transportations carried out by the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia through the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia.”

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday, January 11 met with Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on Moscow. The three signed a statement on their plans to unblock transport and economic communications in the region.
