  Amid turmoil, Armenia President will meet chief of Army General Staff February 26, 2021 - 14:21 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian President Armen Sarkissian is planning to meet the Chief of the Army General Staff, Colonel-General Onik Gasparyan, his office said Friday. Sarkissian is initiating a series of discussions to reduce tension in the country and find a peaceful solution to the situation. Armenia is facing a serious political crisis after the country's top military brass demanded Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation. The PM, however, claims he had already dismissed the chief of the Army General Staff. The parliamentary opposition has already weighed in on the matter, urging against bloodshed and calling for a peaceful transition of power. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
