Biden says committed to helping resolve Karabakh conflict

PanARMENIAN.Net - U.S. President Joe Biden has said his administration is committed to helping Armenia and Azerbaijan find a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In a letter to Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev on Novruz Bayram, Biden stressed that the White House will continue working on regional reconciliation.

“This time of renewal is an opportunity to reaffirm our cooperation and commitment to peace. My Administration will work with Azerbaijan to address common security concerns and regional reconciliation,” the U.S. president said.

As a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Biden said, the U.S. remains committed to helping the sides find a peaceful and lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and to promoting reconciliation between Armenia and Azerbaijan to ensure a prosperous and peaceful future.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
