Armenia's UNESCO Commission slams Azeris' "ISIS-style" destruction of church

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian National Commission for UNESCO has strongly condemned Azerbaijan's "ISIS-style" destruction of an Armenian church in Mekhakavan (Jabrayil), which came under Baku's control in the recent war in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

The Armenian church has been razed to the ground, according to a reportage published by the BBC.

"Strongly condemn yet another act of cultural crime by Azerbaijan. As BBC found out, the Armenian church disappeared after Azerbaijan got control over it. Destruction was complete. The same church was vandalized during the recent aggression," the Commission said on Twitter.

According to the Commission, the Armenian monuments of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) under Azerbaijani occupation are vandalized and destroyed the same way ISIS destroyed cultural heritage in the middle East.
