Top Armenian, Russian diplomats talk Azeri encroachments on Armenian soil

PanARMENIAN.Net - Acting Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian spoke to his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov over the phone on Thursday, May 13 and stressed the inadmissibility of provocations by the Azerbaijani side and encroachment on the sovereign territory of Armenia.

The press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the two continued to discuss the steps to be taken to reduce the tension on the Armenian border as a result of Azerbaijan's actions.

The heads of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Russia also exchanged views on issues of maintaining regional security and stability.

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province).
