Armenia defense chief in Moscow amid Azerbaijan's escalation![]() May 27, 2021 - 15:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Acting Minister of Defense Vagharshak Harutyunyan has left for Moscow, Chairman of the parliament's Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan told reporters on Thursday, May 27. "The Minister of Defense is on a very important working trip in Moscow within our military-political cooperation [with Russia]," Kocharyan said. On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25, while six others were captured on May 27. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
