Armenian official: Large-scale war still a possibility

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Prime Minister's staff Arsen Torosyan said on Friday, June 4 that Russia is doing everything to resolve the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border "without a shot."

"No one in the region, not least Armenia, needs a large-scale war, which still is possible," Torosyan said, adding that negotiations are ongoing, Aysor.am reports.

"They will continue until we reach the solution we have talked about, that the Azerbaijani armed forces leave the sovereign territory of Armenia, and this will happen as a result of cooperation with our strategic partner."

On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province). One Armenian serviceman was killed in Azerbaijan’s shooting on May 25, while six others were captured on May 27.
