The important thing is that they are no longer shooting (in Karabakh - Ed.),” Zas said speaking via video link. The CSTO Secretary General noted that special attention is being paid to the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, especially in the border areas of the Syunik province of Armenia. “We welcome the intention of the parties to resolve the issues of border violations peacefully. We see prospects of establishing long-term peace there. At the same time, the risks of escalation of the situation still remain,” Zas said. On the morning of May 12, the armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the border of Armenia in the southern province of Syunik, advancing 3.5 kilometers and surrounding Sev Lake, which is situated on the border between the two countries but is predominantly a part of Armenia. On May 13, the Azerbaijani military committed more border violations against Armenia, advancing near Vardenis (Gegharkunik province) and Sisian (Syunik province).
