Levon Aronian to represent Armenia at Chess World Cup

PanARMENIAN.Net - Grandmaster Levon Aronian will represent Armenia at Chess World Cup 2021, according to information published by FIDE.

Aronian announced in late February that he was leaving Armenia for the United States but his FIDE page still says he represents the Armenian federation.

Also representing Armenia are grandmasters Gabriel Sargissian, Haik M. Martirosyan, Hovhannes Gabuzyan and Shant Sargsyan.

At the Chess World Cup 2021, more than 200 players will compete in the single-elimination chess tournament that will take place in Sochi, Russia, from 10 July to 3 August 2021. The total prize fund is $1,892,500, with the first prize of $110,000.
