Armenia can adopt European practices to improve legislationMarch 17, 2009 - 17:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - A working meeting on Technical Assistance Information Exchange Unit (TAIEX) was held in Armenia.TAIEX is the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument of the Institution Building unit of Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission. Its aim is to provide to the New Member States, acceding countries, candidate countries, and the administrations of the Western Balkans, short-term technical assistance, in line with the overall policy objectives of the European Commission, and in the field of approximation, application and enforcement of EU legislation. Assistance is also provided to those countries included in the EU's European Neighborhood Policy, as well as Russia. "TAIEX was first applied in Armenia in 2007," Ruben Sarukhanyan, director of the Project Administration Agency at the RA Ministry of Economy, told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter. He informed that a seminar aiming to raise awareness of the program will be held in Yerevan on April 2. ![]() ![]() Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”.
