  Armenia appoints new Deputy PM, Defense Minister August 2, 2021 - 16:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - President Armen Sarkissian signed decrees on Monday, August 2 to appoint Suren Papikyan and Arshak Karapetyan as Armenia's new Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, respectively. Papikyan had been serving as the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure since 2019. Karapetyan, a former Deputy chief of the Armenian Army General Staff Arshak Karapetyan, was appointed the Deputy Defense Minister in July. Also Monday, Nikol Pashinyan was named the country's Prime Minister.   Top stories Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova.
