Armenia reports local battles as Azerbaijan deploys artillery

PanARMENIAN.Net - Local battles are underway on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the situation continues to remain extremely tense, the Defense Ministry reports.

Azerbaijan launched a new provocation in the province of Syunik on Tuesday, shelling the Armenian positions at the same time, the Defense Ministry reported earlier. The Armenian side has opened retaliatory fire to hinder the Azerbaijani military's advancement.

The Azerbaijani side has been using artillery, armored vehicles and firearms of different caliber to shell the Armenian positions of Syunik.

According to the Defense Ministry, the Armenian side controls the situation on the border.
