Vehicle damaged in Azerbaijan's shooting from across the border

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Azerbaijani military opened fired towards the village of Khachik in Armenia's Vayots Dzor province on Monday, July 4, lawmaker Taguhi Tovmasyan said Tuesday.

As a result of the fire, the vehicle belonging to the village chief was damaged, Tovmasyan said. According to her, a local official confirmed the incident but said there was no panic among the public as everyone was used to Azerbaijan's ceasefire violations.

"This is a gross violation of the life and right to peaceful living of Armenia's residents, the precedents of which we see almost every day," Tovmasyan said in a social media post.

"I will send letters to my international colleagues tomorrow, expecting an appropriate response regarding Azerbaijan's criminal activities."

The Defense Ministry on Tuesday confirmed the incident, maintaining that the Azerbaijani troops were silenced after the Armenian side's retaliatory fire. No casualties were reported.

The Armenian Defense Ministry on Monday denied reports from Baku alleging that Armenian forces violated the ceasefire in the eastern section of the border overnight.
