Yerevan explosion: Rescue workers stop search for last missing person![]() August 24, 2022 - 13:55 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Rescue workers have stopped the search for a person who went missing after a large explosion tore through the Surmalu shopping center in the Armenian capital of Yerevan on August 14. Spokesperson for the Emergency Situations Ministry Hayk Kostanyan revealed on Wednesday, August 24 that search operations in the last couple of days were carried out at the place of the possible explosion, where the missing person could have been prior to the blast. "Thorough search operations were carried out in the epicenter of the explosion and in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, the citizen's body or his remains were not found," Kostanyan said, adding that a decision has been reached to stop the search and rescue mission. The explosion killed 16 people and injured 63. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
