Amnesty: Azerbaijan must end Karabakh blockade

PanARMENIAN.Net - Azerbaijan must end the blockade of the Lachin corridor in Nagorno-Karabakh, Amnesty International said in a statement on Wednesday, January 11.

“Azerbaijan must end the blockade of the Lachin corridor, which has left residents of Nagorno Karabakh without access to essential goods and services,” the organization said on social media.

“Freedom of movement and protection of economic and social rights for those affected must be ensured.”

Since December 12, the sole road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia - the Lachin Corridor - has been blocked by self-described Azerbaijani environmentalists. Karabakh residents have reported food and fuel shortages, while hospital patients don't have access to essential medicines, with only a handful allowed transfer to facilities in Armenia proper.
