Armenia: Question of joining Russia's Union State not on the agenda

PanARMENIAN.Net - The question of Armenia's joining the Union State of Russia and Belarus is not on the agenda, Ani Badalyan, press secretary of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has said, according to Interfax.

"The Prime Minister of Armenia addressed this issue back in January 2023. There is no such issue on the agenda of Armenia," Badalyan commented on the statements of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

Earlier, Lukashenko invited the countries of the post-Soviet space to join the union of Belarus and Russia in order to be closer to nuclear weapons and be able to use them.

In response, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, said that he “appreciated the joke” of Lukashenko. Also last year, Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said that Moscow was forcing Yerevan to join the Union State. Subsequently, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov denied Grigoryan's statement, calling it provocative.
