Erdogan calls on EU to speed up Nabucco implementationMay 19, 2009 - 13:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the European Union to speed up implementation of Nabucco project, CNN-Turk reported."Turkey is ready to fulfill its commitments and to build gas-transport lines through our territory," Erdogan said. The Nabucco pipeline is a planned natural gas pipeline that will transport natural gas from Turkey to Austria, via Bulgaria, Romania, and Hungary. It will run from Erzurum in Turkey to Baumgarten an der March, a major natural gas hub in Austria. This pipeline is a diversion from the current methods of importing natural gas solely from Russia. The pipeline will run with total length of 3,300 kilometres. In early years after completion the deliveries are expected to be between 4.5 and 13 billion cubic meters (bcm) per annum. Construction of the pipeline is expected to begin in 2010 and is planned to be finished in 2013. It is estimated to cost around 7.9 billion. ![]() ![]() Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision.
