Military chief: Armenia balances security and peace efforts![]() January 28, 2025 - 13:20 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s Chief of the General Staff, Edward Asryan, stated at the Yerablur Military Pantheon that the Azerbaijani forces continue to occupy parts of Armenia’s sovereign territory, but Armenia remains steadfast on the path to peace. “They remain in Armenia’s sovereign territory. We are fulfilling the tasks set before us. We are moving forward on the path to peace, demarcation, and delimitation. The armed forces are continuing to develop, modernize, and expand,” Asryan said, according to Auroranews.am . He also addressed the situation along the line of contact but did not provide further details. “The bellicose statements of Azerbaijan’s defense minister always arouse concerns, but they constitute a small factor in assessing the operational situation. We closely monitor both the tactical-operational conditions at the border and their statements,” he added, as reported by Panorama.am. In 2022, Asryan had stated that Azerbaijani forces would withdraw from Armenia’s territory within one or two days. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
