Pashinyan claims new Constitution will have regional significance![]() March 13, 2025 - 14:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during the discussion of the "Real Armenia" ideological project, stated that his message regarding the new constitution has been interpreted by many as a response to Azerbaijan's demands. However, he said that it should be viewed within the context of the "Real Armenia" ideology. According to him, given the current situation, it is undeniable that the potential text of the Constitution will also have regional significance, as reported by Panorama.am. Pashinyan recalled that since February 2020, there has been discourse about the agenda for a new constitution. Moreover, during the 2018 revolution, this issue was already on the agenda. Addressing the recognition of neighboring countries' territorial integrity, he noted: "When we declare that we recognize the territorial integrity of our neighbors, it seems that we are recognizing their territorial integrity, and that's correct. But it has a deeper purpose: you are recognizing the territorial integrity of your own country." He emphasized that “this understanding leads to a new level of self-awareness, revealing that there has been some ambiguity regarding the country's own territory.” The Prime Minister added that “this comprehension should be established as a fundamental principle.” "First and foremost, we recognize the territorial integrity of our neighbors to acknowledge our own country's territorial integrity. Subsequently, the question arises: why do we recognize our country's territorial integrity? This is also a question that resonates in our reality, and if it arises, we must attempt to answer it," Pashinyan stated. *Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev earlier stated that Yerevan and Baku have not agreed on two points of the future peace treaty: refraining from lawsuits against each other in international courts and the presence of third-country forces on the border. He also mentioned that there are two more actions Armenia must take before signing the peace treaty: amend its constitution and consent to the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.* ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
