Tom Catena says charges against Vardanyan false and absurd

PanARMENIAN.Net - Dr. Tom Catena, the 2017 laureate of the Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity, has spoken out in support of Ruben Vardanyan, the former state minister of Artsakh, who is currently held in Baku on politically motivated charges. Catena shared a video message on X and urged the international community to act immediately.

He described the charges against Vardanyan as false and absurd.

"I have known Ruben Vardanyan for many years. Anyone familiar with him knows that the charges against him are completely false and absurd. The international community must act immediately to ensure his release, as well as the release of all Armenian prisoners unjustly held in Azerbaijan," Catena wrote.

Earlier, it was reported that Saeeda Ghulam Fatima, a 2016 Aurora Prize finalist and human rights activist, plans to travel to Baku to attend Ruben Vardanyan’s trial.

Ruben Vardanyan is one of the co-founders of the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative.
