Displaced Karabakh Armenians to receive support through June

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian government has extended by two months the social assistance program for those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, allowing recipients to continue receiving 50,000 drams per month. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting.

Amendments to the support regulations were approved, expanding eligibility to individuals who, as of April 1, 2025, are classified as having first- or second-degree disabilities, have significant functional limitations, are aged 63 or older, have lost a breadwinner, are enrolled in general or vocational education institutions, or are under 18, according to Armenpress.

At the same time, given the need for further analysis of proposed improvements to social programs for displaced families, the government decided to extend support for all displaced persons, including those outside the newly defined target groups.

Additionally, the launch of a new need-based social support initiative has been postponed for two months.

These adjustments aim to enhance the effectiveness of current programs and allow time for detailed evaluations. The aid will continue under the 2025 state budget without requiring additional funds and will provide 50,000 drams per family member monthly.

Earlier, it was reported that Karabakh protesters in Liberty Square would relocate their tent headquarters to the Artsakh Representation’s premises in Yerevan. Nzhdeh Iskandaryan, a member of the Council for the Protection of the Rights of Artsakh Armenians, said this was in response to the government’s expected decision to extend the “40+10” aid scheme for Artsakh residents.
