China's new envoy calls Armenia key partner![]() May 2, 2025 - 18:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - China’s new ambassador to Armenia, Li Xinwei, has presented his credentials to President Vahagn Khachaturyan, who welcomed the ambassador and expressed hope for deeper and more diverse cooperation between the two nations. "Armenia is one of China’s important partners," the ambassador stated, pledging to do everything within his capabilities to enhance the two countries' collaboration. President Khachaturyan emphasized that relations with China are among Armenia’s foreign policy priorities. “Our friendly and traditional ties obligate us to further develop and expand cooperation based on our historical traditions. We must also create new opportunities for our nations to understand each other better and strengthen our interaction and friendship,” he said. The two sides held detailed discussions on the potential for economic cooperation and stressed the need for concrete steps to fully realize these opportunities. They also highlighted the importance of continued and effective communication at various levels, which could provide a solid foundation for deepening bilateral relations. President Khachaturyan particularly emphasized the need to maintain high-level contacts and active political dialogue as key to strengthening Armenian-Chinese ties. The development of parliamentary diplomacy was also noted as a promising platform for enhancing dialogue and sectoral cooperation. Both sides valued the recent launch of direct flights between Armenia and China, describing it as a tangible and significant step in boosting political, economic, cultural, and tourism ties. China’s previous ambassador, Fan Yong, concluded his diplomatic mission in July 2024. From then until April 26, 2025, the Chinese embassy in Armenia was headed by chargé d’affaires Chen Min. China has recently signed strategic partnership documents with neighboring Georgia and Azerbaijan. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
