Marseille mayor pledges support to Armenians

PanARMENIAN.Net - Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan, accompanied by a delegation including city officials and Armenian community representatives, visited Catholicos Karekin II at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The Catholicos emphasized the significance of the visit as a testament to Armenian-French friendship and France's continued support during challenging times.

Mayor Payan, in turn, expressed gratitude for the reception and highlighted the historical ties between Armenia and France. He acknowledged the Armenian community's contributions to Marseille's development and assured that efforts would be made to address the challenges facing the Armenian people.

The Catholicos noted the strong cooperation between Marseille's leadership and its Armenian community, recalling the city's role in welcoming survivors of the Armenian Genocide who established cultural and spiritual institutions there.

The meeting was also attended by Olivier Decottignies, France's Ambassador to Armenia.
